Case Summary

On November 15, 1966, four people in a single vehicle near an abandoned munitions facility outside Point Pleasant, West Virginia encountered something that pursued them at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The eyes, they said, were red. Not reflective. Illuminated.

What followed was thirteen months of the most densely documented anomaly cluster in American cryptid record — thirteen named witnesses, dozens of sightings, a string of Men in Black encounters, anomalous telephone interference, animal disappearances, and one journalist, John A. Keel, who went to Point Pleasant to write a story and came back with something harder to explain.

On December 15, 1967, the Silver Bridge collapsed into the Ohio River at rush hour. Forty-six people died. The sightings stopped the same night. The two events have never been formally connected. They have also never been adequately explained as coincidence.

This episode covers the full 1966–67 Point Pleasant flap, the Chicago metropolitan cluster of 2017–2021 (160+ documented sightings), the three explanatory frameworks and their individual failure points, and the one physical detail — the eyes — that none of the frameworks resolve.
